United States of India (USI) begins with a simple proposition:

The people have a right to tell their own story.

USI is an attempt to turn that proposition into a democratic practice. It is built on the idea of epistemic freedom: the freedom and ability of everyday people to create, document, preserve, question, and share knowledge about the world they inhabit.
